Campaign: Tip of the Diceberg
Session date: 2026-04-14
In-game window: Midnight at the bathhouse through the next morning’s dinosaur race and boat afterparty
Status: Complete
Previously, on Tip of the Diceberg
The party staggered out of the Biscar compound raid with bodies behind them, suspicious purple liquids in their bags, Elza Toth zombified but alive, and a note pointing toward a midnight meeting at the bathhouse. Naturally, everyone decided the correct next tactical move was spa infiltration.
The Bathhouse Job
Bonzo and Faf entered the bathhouse naked, because subtlety had apparently been left back at the murder basement. Viggo, the enormous Choltan proprietor with star tattoos and serious Eastern Promises energy, was thrown off but let them in.
Inside, the party met Tubs, the furnace-bellied fire attendant who kept the steam room roaring with purple heartwood from Lazlo Toth. That detail immediately went onto the cursed conspiracy corkboard, because anything purple in Chult is now legally suspicious.
Bodius and Isilrod arrived separately, disguised as Darius and Relzar Biscar. They played along with Jibari Muchtow, fed him Biscar’s Bastardly Brew, and got the good roll: obedient stupor instead of rabid violence. Jibari talked.
Confirmed intel:
- Jibari funded Velmira Biscar’s brew and animal-juicing operation.
- Lazlo Toth appears cleared of direct involvement.
- Jibari ordered Legrand killed within 24 hours because Legrand has the people’s love.
- Waddo is effectively under Jibari’s thumb.
- Jibari wants to depose Xintarum and seize the colosseum, the races, and Sebulba’s operation.
- Jibari has some kind of kill kink, which may be blackmail fuel if the party can get cleaner specifics.
Then the magic wore off. Jibari grabbed Bodius, saw through the disguise, announced, “Now I see you,” and Misty Stepped away like a man with too much villain budget.
Two scimitar-wielding minotaurs entered immediately after. The party killed them. Spa night had become a bloodbath, but at least the amenities were memorable.
The Cold Plunge Situation
Viggo rewarded Bonzo with a two-star tattoo for landing the final blow. Bodius and Isilrod used the cold plunge and each regained 1 HP, which is honestly a pretty good spa package if one ignores the minotaur corpses.
Faf then drank an unidentified potion from the bathhouse. The magic ID candles provided one clue: water.
So Faf did the only thing that made sense and dove into the cold plunge. Around 15 feet down, his throat seized, panic hit, and then he discovered the potion let him breathe underwater. At the bottom of the plunge pool, he found:
- a small chest
- a tiny skull
The skull was later identified as a human child skull. The bathhouse is officially not normal.
Back to the Boat
The party returned to the ship around 1 AM and woke at 7 AM, still on schedule for the dinosaur race. Dr. Jack Aubry brewed the mind breaker poison antidote using the recipe from Velmira’s lab, with Isilrod assisting and learning a bit of potion-making.
The antidote worked. Elza Toth returned to normal, and immediately revealed that normal Elza is rude, abrasive, and much less grateful than a recently un-zombified person ought to be. She also clarified that she was dating Relzar, not Bast, and thought Bast was a dweeb.
Lazlo Toth was found nearly finished with a six-tap basement bar made entirely from purple heartwood, complete with milk maiden tap handles. The party returned Elza to him. She was, in technical terms, in big trouble.
Moghammer Enters the Local Economy
Faf tested the newly freed riding toad, Moghammer, on deck. Useful traits observed:
- Swamp Stride
- Darkvision
- 40 ft swim speed
- AC 11
- HP 25
- multiple attacks
At the race, Xibalba had turned out in force. Sebulba’s tent looked like a tailgate, with Sebulba lounging beside three finely dressed lizardfolk. After hearing what happened to the Biscars, Sebulba gave one key instruction about Biscar’s Bastardly Brew: do not sell it to anyone.
As thanks, Sebulba gave the party an Immovable Rod.
Then came the race. Against 10-to-1 odds, Isilrod rode Moghammer and beat much faster dinosaurs. The crowd lost its mind. Moghammer became an instant local legend. Merch appeared immediately, because capitalism has advantage on initiative.
The party invited everyone back to the boat for an afterparty. Sebulba gets 2 percent of the take. The party charged an entrance fee and 5 gp for drawings of people riding the toad.
Volo and the Midsommer Thread
Molly, owner of The Thundering Lizard, came by the afterparty. So did Volothamp Geddarm, self-appointed editor-in-chief of the Xibalban Courier, a publication with no fixed office and mostly vibes.
Volo explained that the only person he had heard of receiving a Midsommer’s Night Song invitation was Artus Cimber. According to the old tale, the invitation is written in invisible ink and can only be revealed if someone plays an average song most excellently.
Volo also mentioned that he had been getting especially dank mead from Velmira Biscar, sourced from somewhere in the jungle.
Where Things Stand
- Jibari escaped and knows Bodius’s face.
- Legrand may still be under a 24-hour death sentence.
- Jibari’s power grab now clearly targets Waddo, Legrand, Sebulba, Xintarum, the races, and the colosseum.
- Purple heartwood, purple juice, Velmira’s jungle-sourced mead, and the bathhouse fuel are probably connected somehow.
- The tiny human child skull in the plunge pool is unresolved and deeply not fine.
- Midsommer’s Night Song points toward Artus Cimber.
- Moghammer is famous, profitable, amphibious, and probably the party’s most legitimate business venture.
Next-session launch pad
The party begins in Xibalba with fresh money, a famous toad, a dangerous enemy who can identify Bodius, and several urgent leads:
- warn or protect Legrand
- follow up with Artus Cimber about Midsommer’s Night Song
- decide how to use Jibari’s extracted secrets
- investigate the purple heartwood and jungle mead connection
- figure out what the bathhouse skull and underwater chest mean
