Description

Faf D'Gnarwol, a pale-skinned dwarf with electric-blue eyes, blonde hair and beard, horned helm, and oversized axe, beside Moghammer

Faf is a four-foot, 350-pound, 350-year-old dwarf with pale skin, electric-blue eyes, and long blonde hair and beard. His noble bearing competes with an appetite for decadent pleasures and the practical bulk of a mounted fighter. He wears a horned helm and chain mail, carries the purpleheart-wood BAMF fish shield, and wields the war-bonded Debt Collector, an axe so large that it looks comically oversized beside him. Moghammer is normally at his side.

Faf fights with more theater than his grizzled appearance suggests, using wide sweeps, spins, feints, uppercuts, and deliberate finishing poses with Debt Collector.

In Session 16, Faf worked shirtless at the forge on a spinning gold-coin holy symbol for his shield. His black-eyed, booming intimidation was a temporary Thaumaturgy effect, not a lasting change to his electric-blue eyes.

In Session 17, Faf gained a tattoo across his belly and chest: two angry, striped, Sailor Jerry-style tigers forming the party’s vulgar letter emblem. He parts his beard to display it. He also began using the party’s crossed-hand sign like binoculars while taking a low lunging stance.

Current Sheet Summary

Source: live D&D Beyond character sheet reviewed 2026-09-15, with campaign-confirmed narrative and equipment history overlaid. Faf is a level-6 Fighter (Cavalier), not a Cleric multiclass. His Cleric magic comes from the Magic Initiate (Cleric) feat selected at Fighter 6. In Session 16 he embraced devotion to Vergadain; that religious development is narrative canon, while his current class mechanics remain Fighter 6.

Backstory

Faf D’Gnorwol IV is the recognized heir to the Marble Throne of a respected dwarven kingdom beneath the mountains. His father, Faf D’Gnorwol III, remains alive and in control, leaving Faf with title but no authority.

Impatient with a future indefinitely deferred, Faf left home to build a name independent of inheritance. He carries the D’Gnorwol family’s famed honey-meads, symbols of hospitality, craftsmanship, and subtle influence, and hopes trade, deeds, and hardship will forge him into a ruler worthy of his lineage.

The D’Gnorwol family earned its standing through brewing wealth, stabilizing trade, and lending strength to dangerous communal mining efforts when others could not.

Faf’s departure was hastened by scandal. His betrothed, Helga von Smoote, betrayed him and fractured a carefully arranged alliance. Rather than let bitterness or vengeance define him, Faf chose distance, seeking the road as both escape and proving ground.

He now adventures not for crown or coin alone, but to discover whether his worth lies in blood or in deeds.

Personality

  • The common folk love Faf for his kindness and generosity.
  • Despite noble birth, Faf does not place himself above other folk; all have the same blood.

Ideals

  • Family: blood runs thicker than water.
  • Independence: Faf must prove that he can stand on his own.

Bonds

  • Faf will face any challenge to win the approval of his family.
  • The common folk must see Faf as a hero of the people.

Flaws

  • Faf has an insatiable desire for decadent pleasures.

Allies & Organizations

  • Throbbin Mistwillow appears as an ally on the sheet under the older spelling “Throbbin Mistwillow.”

Campaign-Confirmed Items Not Reconciled on the Live Sheet

  • 100 gold ingots (1,000 gp) — Faf’s Session 16 treasury share; confirmed included within the live sheet’s 4,185-gp total.
  • Manticore Tail Spike
  • 6 jugs and 2 sets of picking tools — previously established campaign inventory but absent from the live sheet.

Notes

  • Spotted another minotaur with a scimitar lurking in a shadowed alley near the salty docks of Port Xibalba. Lost sight of it, but it appeared to be observing the party.
  • Refers to the creature, correctly, as a schimitaur.
  • After Bodius picked the underwater chest from the bathhouse, Faf grabbed a dead rat and slammed it shut inside the chest.
  • Session 9: Triggered the pit trap inside the Temple of Cayochan (pressure plate). Took 25 damage from the boulder trap when the golden statue was removed — beard partially shorn off. Scrambled out weaponless; presumably retrieved his gear from the antechamber after. (Moment was noted for comedic value.)
  • Session 14: Debt Collector was confirmed war-bonded. During the Siegfried fight, Faf toppled and marked the dragon, was knocked unconscious by the second fire breath, and was stabilized by Moghammer. After returning to consciousness, he withdrew to the Wyrmheart entrance in protest over the rush on the hoard.
  • Session 15: the party materially restored Faf’s missing hoard share, and he contributed 500 gp to the shared purse. His rule for the reconciliation was simple: “No share, no shield.” He then caught Isilrod during a staged fall, killed several firenewts with Debt Collector, and reached level 6 with the rest of the party.
  • Armor ownership correction: Heath confirmed that the mithral half plate recovered in Wyrmheart belongs to Isilrod, not Faf. Faf wears chain mail with the BAMF Fish Shield for AC 18.

Session 16

In Session 16, Faf embraced devotion to Vergadain, terrified the first warlock with Thaumaturgy, and fashioned his holy symbol while the party explored. He killed the drunken shrine warlock with the tail-skin water squirter and held the statue pressure plate until a corpse replaced it. The party opened the treasury by performing the Song of the Albino Dwarf. No additional level gain or rest occurred.

Session 17

Session 17: Faf used Bless in the zombie tyrannosaurus fight, then killed it by striking through the roof of its mouth from inside its jaws with Debt Collector. He destroyed a quipper-powered racing leaf with a spell announced as Sacred Flame; this does not add the cantrip to his verified sheet list. Moghammer acquired chain-mail barding for AC 16. One death-curse maximum-HP loss was explicitly applied to everyone; current sheet HP needs reconciliation rather than silent recalculation.
