The party survived the Red Wizard attack, buried Captain Ortimay Swift, renamed the ship The Milk Maiden’s Voyage, paid Aremag, and learned that Dr. Aubrey needed a dragon’s heart, angel tears, and faerie milk to cure his wife Mina’s vampirism.
What happened
Bodius, Faf, and Bonzo left Flea, Syndra, Dr. Aubrey, and Isilrod on the Milk Maiden’s Voyage while LeGrand guided them into Port Xibalba.
They nearly got trampled by a dinosaur race, then watched Rhalzar Biskarr, a hulking orc, win at the last second riding a purple-eyed T-Rex. LeGrand introduced them to Sebulba, the winged gnome who ran the races. Sebulba believed the Biskarr family was cheating with an undetectable performance enhancer and promised the party a special craft if they brought hard evidence.
LeGrand then took them to the Grand Market. The first stop was Lazlo Toth, a carpenter LeGrand visited to collect practice swords for Oliver Watto. Lazlo sold Faf a purple-heartwood shield and told the party his daughter Elsa Toth had been missing for a month. He believed Bast Biskarr, Elsa’s boyfriend, was responsible. Lazlo promised to build a ten-foot ship ornament for the Milk Maiden’s Voyage if the party brought Elsa home alive and unharmed.
The party shopped further. Bonzo bought nightvision spectacles. Faf bought chainmail, failed to buy a gun in a city unfamiliar with them, failed to buy a dinosaur, and did acquire a jug of Triceratops Milk.
Bodius left the others to follow a black-cloaked stranger to The Thundering Lizard Inn. The stranger, a Thieves Guild member, told him Xibalba was run by competing powerbrokers: Merchant Prince Jabari Muktow, merchant prince and holy man Grandfather Zitembe, Sebulba, and Watto. Bodius also learned Artus Cimber of the Veiled Quill had intelligence about all secrets in Xibalba and was currently deep in the Chultan jungle.
Bonzo and Faf reunited with Bodius at the Lizard, where the group found drunken young revelers including Bast Biskarr. Faf challenged Bast to a drinking contest and lost. When Bast tried to leave, the party knocked him out and, with permission from Molly the tortle innkeeper, brought him to the cellar for interrogation. Bast revealed he hated his family, especially his two older brothers and sister, and that they had taken Elsa to their new compound. The party brought Bast back to the Milk Maiden’s Voyage, where Dr. Aubrey and Isilrod worked on a sobriety potion.
The party then met LeGrand at the coliseum. He brought them to Oliver Watto’s office, where they passed two minotaurs with scimitars. Inside, they saw Watto with Merchant Prince Jabari Muktow, Watto’s childhood friend and close confidant. After Jabari left with the minotaurs, Watto explained that an unknown force had been stealing away his gladiators nightly. If the party helped, his gladiators would fight beside them when called.
Watto offered an immediate test: an arena fight against a special beast. The party accepted, bet on themselves, and entered the coliseum.
They defeated a manticore. Faf won the crowd’s adoration with the final blow. Bonzo briefly won the crowd with an acrobatic attack and drew Molly’s attention from the stands. Bodius collected a vial of faintly purple Manticore Blood. Bonzo also took the manticore’s testicles.
