Ancient aquatic humanoids (lobster-folk) of Chult. Left a deep imprint on the jungle’s sacred sites.
What’s Known
- Their word for spider is Shagoleth — also the password to enter the Temple of Cayochan.
- They placed a curse on the Temple of Cayochan (and likely other sacred spaces): those blessed by the Chwinga cannot enter. The ward “protects them from vainglory.”
- Isilrod is permanently locked out of Aldani-blighted spaces as a result of his Chwinga blessing.
- Ancient Aldani were sophisticated mechanical engineers. They built the steamboat used by Jacques LaFleur and created five giant engineer claws before renouncing that technology.
- Bonzo carries one of those claws. If he returns to an Aldani village bearing it, he must undergo a ritual to determine whether he is its true owner.
Current Leads
- No direct on-page encounter with living Aldani has been recorded. Session 13’s recap says the steamboat was “on loan from the Aldani people,” but the exact ownership and contact history need clarification.
- Raif Bright-fin wanted to visit the Aldani because of Triton kinship.
- Jacques LaFleur says the Aldani Basin has or had a robust Aldani civilization, but fears Shadowfang Keep may have damaged or decimated them.
