The “LaFleur” named in Shago’s note (“intercept Grackles and LaFleur at the Basin”). A superb Baldur’s Gate bard who has competed at the Night Song but never won the whole prize; he beat many rivals in his day and had not been seen recently. A newspaper photo places him duetting with Gus Galloway about five years ago. At the Night Song the other bards were confused about his status, some insisting he was dead, others that he was alive.
Session 12 confirmed LaFleur is alive. He was at Old Tin Top’s disguised as Isolde the Moth, smashed the bone flute on stage, and revealed himself after the golden idol theft. Volo recognized him.
LaFleur says Syndra Sylvane and Throbbin Mistwillow sent his earlier party after the death curse. Shadows and mist destroyed that expedition before they found the source, and LaFleur’s remaining companion, probably “Grackles,” is now held at Shadowfang Keep in the Aldani Basin.
He returned the Golden Statue of Cayochan to the party after the Old Tin Top’s fight. He believes the idol identifies people affected by the death curse and suspects Symposium members may be shielded from it somehow, though that is only his inference.
LaFleur also supplied current leads: Wyrmheart Mine as the red-dragon location, a weak sighting of Artus Cimber about two weeks ago, and a suspicion that Ras Nsi may be responsible for the death curse because of his undead ties.
In Session 13, LaFleur mapped the Wyrmheart route for the party. At the river fork he and Summer continued by Aldani-built steamboat toward the Basin and Shadowfang, while the player party disembarked for the mine.
