Aldani Village

A living Aldani settlement in the Aldani Basin, reached by the party in Session 17. Its formal name is not established. A timber palisade and two guarded towers protect stilted huts built from reeds, driftwood, and rope over wet ground. Broken gauges, brasswork, and cogs hang above doors as reminders of the old engineering culture.

Summer brought the party inside after finding it asleep near the steamboat. She says Jacques is near the Great Hall, preparing an evening council to seek support for Shadowfang Keep. The council has not occurred on record. Summer reports a blight and a missing chef. The DM confirmed the chef is Van Cleavee, who is also the absent ritual administrator.

People and Services

• Apothecary: Mettle Brinewell, a young-looking female Aldani in a waistcoat and mittens over her claws. Trades in crawfish, not gold; sold Bodius healing potions, tools, jugs, and a water-breathing potion.
• Blacksmith: Grum Anvilclaw, an approximately eight-foot, bearded-looking Aldani with a shaved head and a peg leg; his workshop door has a claw-and-hammer knocker. Recognized the cavalry armor recipe, sold Moghammer’s barding and Bodius’s armor, and described the Sunken Lists challenge.
• Shaman: Shoob, elderly, blanket-draped, with a bright pink face and scarred claws. A prospective translator for the keep history; no completed translation is recorded.
• Claw-bearers: Moolak and Blugalug led Bonzo through his ownership trial.
• Chef and ritual administrator: Van Cleavee has been missing roughly three weeks; his son supplied the trial preparations.

Immediate Leads

Bonzo’s trial is complete. The council, Van Cleavee’s disappearance, the blight, book translation, and cavalry armor challenge remain open. No sacred armor has been awarded and no rescue has launched.
